On 13 December 2021, Mr. Apichart Vachiraphan, Deputy Director-General, Department of Disease Control (DDC), on behalf of the Director-General, received the United Nations Public Service Awards (UNPSA) 2021 for the Department’s initiative titled “Intelligent and Sustainable Public Health Emergency System in Thailand," which enhances the response to emergency and health threats and seeks to achieve two Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely, Goal 3 and Goal 17.

On this occasion, H.E. Mr. Chairat Sirivat, Consul-General, hosted a dinner in honour of the DDC delegation and congratulated on their success in mitigating health risks at the international level. The winning initiative also helps increase Thailand’s reputation on institutional preparedness and response in times of health crisis, especially the Covid-19 pandemic.

The UNPSA Awards is the United Nations’ most prestigious international award for public service given to international organizations or government institutions whose initiatives, practices and services are innovative and people-centered as well as promote efficiency and transparency while seeking to achieve the SDGs.
