The ​Royal Thai Consulate-General in Dubai delivered a briefing on UAE - Thailand Relations to Zayed University Students
 
​On 12 February 2026, Mrs. Merica Sivara, Deputy Consul-General, representing the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Dubai, delivered a briefing titled "UAE-Thailand Relations: An Overview of 50 Years of Partnership and the Role of the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Dubai". The session was attended by approximately 40 undergraduate International Relations students at Zayed University, Dubai Campus, following an invitation from the University.
​The briefing highlighted the evolution of UAE-Thailand relations over the past 50 years across all dimensions, including politics, economy, trade, investment, energy, tourism, socio-cultural exchange and consular affairs. The Deputy Consul-General shared practical insights on translating Thailand’s foreign policy into tangible actions, emphasizing the Consulate-General's role as a bridge between the public and private sectors, as well as the peoples of both nations.
​The Deputy Consul-General also reflected on the success of the 50th Anniversary of UAE-Thai Diplomatic Relations celebrated on 12 December 2025. This milestone was marked by a series of year-long activities, as follow:
​- The establishment of the "Thai Corner" at Al Qasimia University Library in Sharjah to disseminate knowledge about Thailand,
​- The "New Horizons Roadshow" organized by the Dubai Chambers, which brought a delegation of Dubai businesses to Thailand for seminars and business matchings,
​- The historic opening of the Dubai International Chamber’s representative office in Bangkok,
​- New flight route connecting Abu Dhabi and Chiang Mai
- The Thai Cultural Gala Dinners hosted in Dubai and Abu Dhabi
​- The projection of the Thai national flag on the Burj Khalifa, Dubai’s iconic landmark.
​Looking towards the next 50 years, the Deputy Consul- General outlined a vision to expand existing cooperation into emerging sectors, such as technology, innovation, digital economy, green economy and preventive medicine, aimed at ensuring sustainable mutual benefits.
​The students engaged in a vibrant exchange of ideas, showing particular interests inThailand's ​promotion of Thai soft power through Thai food and tourism,
​internship opportunities at the Consulate-General, academic exchange programs and further education in Thailand.
​During the visit, the Deputy Consul-General also met with Dr. Kevin Hall, President and CEO of Zayed University, to express gratitude for the invitation and discuss academic collaboration between Zayed University and Thai higher education institutions, including the ongoing internship program for students at the Consulate-General.
Zayed University was established in 1998 by His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the late Founder and President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi. Zayed University is a leading government institution dedicated to developing the next generation of UAE leaders, focusing on women’s empowerment and global readiness, operating campuses in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai, with English as the primary medium of instruction.
This briefing not only served as a channel to disseminate knowledge about UAE - Thailand relations but also to build networks among youth, reinforcing the status of both nations as key strategic partners.
