On November 14, 2024, H.E. Ms. Nipa Nirannoot, Consul-General of Thailand in Dubai, together with Executive Director of Thai Trade Center and Deputy Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, joined the celebration of the Loy Krathong festival hosted by Dusit Thani Hotel Dubai.

The Festival attendees also include members of Thai and local communities, as well as the ‘Friends of Thailand’ circle.

 

CG Nipa delivered the opening remarks by expressing her gratitude to Dusit Thani Dubai and the Tourism Authority of Thailand Dubai Office for their collaboration in organizing the event and highlighted that the festival not only helped uphold the beauty of Thai culture and tradition but also fostered unity among the Thai and local communities in Dubai.

 

The highlights of the activities include floating ‘Krathong’ to express gratitude to the nature, the traditional Loy Krathong dance, "Muay Talay" (sea boxing) games. Guests were also treated to a Thai reception dinner catered by ‘Benjarong’ restaurant, recognized with the "Thai Select" certification by the Thai government for its authentic cuisine.

 

Loy Krathong is a cherished tradition in Thailand, symbolizing the close relationship between Thai people and waterways. This year’s celebration fell on November 15, 2024. The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Dubai was pleased to play a key role in preserving and promoting this cultural heritage through the Loy Krathong festival in Dubai, showcasing the essence of Thai identity abroad.
